11 Jul Return to Denver + ‘Real’ Life?
We returned to Denver on April 28th. We spent the next 6 weeks getting back into our apartment, unloading our storage unit and catching up on work after our incredible 3 week vacation. Aaron returned to Men in Kilts and I was ecstatic to work in my real ‘office’ set up once again.
We spent the weeks extremely busy; visiting with our Denver friends and hitting up our favorite Denver hot spots, and celebrating both our birthdays. We had a lot to accomplish, knowing we’d leave town soon enough for a month back in the Midwest visiting our families.
One of our biggest goals was another group camping trip with our CO friends. Dates and location were set, and on June 3rd we congregated at Hartman Rocks Recreational Area outside Gunnison, Colorado. We spent the weekend exploring the extensive web of hiking, mountain biking and 4WD trails that surrounded our campsite. The rocks provided the perfect scramble for a sunset or sunrise view and the weather was great: hot sunny mornings and afternoons with evening storms that rained just enough to dampen the dust and cool everyone off for the night.
The Gunnison River was only a 10 min drive from camp and we spent sun-filled hours wading in the fridgid water, watching rafters, tubers and kayakers float by.
- Sunset views our first night of camping
- watching distant rain clouds roll by
- lots of good boulders!
- hiking around our campsite
- Gunnison River
- Rainbows over camp!
- Last night sunset views
- amazing skies to the east
The weekend went by too quickly and soon it was time for packing once again. We flew to Minneapolis on June 8th for Aaron’s sister’s wedding the following weekend, and have been spending time with family in Minnesota and Wisconsin since! We’ve been happily enjoying the midwest summer joys of lake life, cold beers and good food while we work on plans our next move(s)…. stay tuned!
