17 Aug Peaceful Earth Gardens Fruit Harvest – Part 1

July & August 

We returned to Peaceful Earth Gardens and the SnowMansion ready to jump back into summer gardening. The plants we had started the months prior were showing great promise, and the fruit trees and bushes on the property were already bearing harvestable quantities!

First of the fruit harvest is raspberries, from several bushes around the property. Next up began the currants, both red and black! My first time eating fresh currants — what a great flavor! Within the same week, the giant apricot tree started dropping fruit by the gallon daily, with even the slightest gust of wind, for about a week. Short but oh so sweet!

Aside from eating dozens of apricots every day, Aaron also through a batch into a fermenter bucket and began making some Tangerine wine!

Toward the end of the apricot week, the cherry tree began dropping cherries left and right, and we knew we had to move quickly! The next day I spent a few hours on the roof, picking all the cherries I could reach…  boy it was a TON!

With all this fruit we had to cook fast! In addition to the cherries I harvested more fruit around the property to make a fresh fruit tart with an oat crust — no sugar needed!

There were still too many cherries left! The staff around the property all felt the pie buzz and fellow worker Ruban made THREE MORE! They were all sooo good and eaten up within 2 fabulous pie days.

Quickly following the cherries, the several varieties of plum trees are all ripening and dropping quickly! We’ve had two trees already by Aug 1st go through their harvest.

With most of the pluots, Aaron made a flavored syrup and more batches of fruit wine.
