14 Nov Our first storage unit
I’ve never rented a storage unit or even looked into one before a couple months ago. Aaron used to work next to an Extra Storage facility in Stapleton, and it seemed like a nice enough place that’s the first company I looked up when starting my search.
Their Lowry location had an online rate for $29 / month for a 5×5 – which we thought we could fit our tubs of clothes, sports equipment, personals and kitchen appliances.
I reserved our space two weeks ago and when we showed up today – it could not have gone better. I was a little familiar with the neighborhood but did not put it together that our storage was in the old Air Force hanger.

Our rep was very polite, showed us the unit then finished setting up our lease. She showed us to our unit, a short walk down a hallway we could drive to, and we spent less then 10 minutes unloading the first car load of 8 tubs.
We had the help of Ellyn and my mom for additional car space, so it shockingly only took one more car trip, of 3 vehicles and another hour and a half to finish the majority of our storage task.
So:
✅ great security (we tried browsing the hanger while waiting for a rep to chat with, and we were halted immediately from leaving their site line)
✅ drive in accessible
✅ climate controlled
✅ one of the cheaper rates we found
… and, aside from a final drop off of odds n ends, we’re done!
