14 May vanliving in Moab for a week
Saturday May 4 – Saturday May 11 2024
I rolled into Moab late Saturday evening after riding in the CO2UT gravel bike rice in Fruita, CO. I took the bike race as a sign that I should head onward to Moab earlier than initially intended, and wow I’m glad I did! What an epic place to easily get lost and spend weeks or months in. I barely scratched the surface in my week of touring around, but still caught some epic landscapes and learned some ins and outs of the Moab desert.
I split my time parking in the town of Moab and free camping on BLM land between Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. I found a very easy campsite on the edge of Hell Roaring Canyon that I stayed at for 3 consecutive nights — enjoying the immense views and quiet of the upper desert plateau.
Between hiking all week, my campsite, and the town of Moab for coffee shop laptop sessions, I got plenty of time around the neighborhood getting to know Moab’s many canyons and picturesque roads.
I spent a lot of time along the Colorado River — every road along it was incredible! Specifically the jaw-dropping cliffs along Potash Road…
