Week 2: Friday Harvest + Bees!

Friday was a big work day for us. I tackled a couple different area of weeding and planted a new mix of lettuce seeds in the kitchen garden for testing.

Aaron donned the bee suit and helped Jiva place a new frame for the hives to sit on. We’re excited to harvest honey this coming week!

Aaron harvested a lot of fruit and avocados throughout the afternoon, then ginger and turmeric for the evening harvest session. We sell three kinds of avocados: Sharwil (most like Hass / mainland Avon), Ota, and Malama. Ota and Malama are more creamy / buttery than traditional avocados and about 2x the size!

I harvested herb bundles with Kristin: mixed bundles of oregano, rosemary, thyme and sage, then single species bundles of basil, thai basil, chives, two types of tulsi (holy basil), lemongrass, and kefir lime leaves. Lastly, I was on green onion bundles, and Aaron harvested more pak choy.
